Tanzania launched its TB Caucus PDF Print E-mail

On 8th of November, 2016 in Dodoma, Tanzania has officially launched its TB Caucus. The event occurred concurrently with sensitization of Members of Parliament (MP's) on TB disease in general. A total of 283 (73%) out of 389 members of Parliament including Hon.Minister and Deputy Minister for Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children were able to participate actively. This event was made possible with support of the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)  Challenge TB Project.


Among key issues addressed were;
1. Overview of TB in Tanzania
2. Experience of Global TB caucus
3. Tanzania MP's resolution on TB disease and way forward


Also MP's had an opportunity to ask questions and clarifications on TB control services based on the presentation.
In addition to that, there was testimony from two former TB patients of whom one of them was cured MDR-TB patient.
Last but not least MP's under the Chairmanship of Parliamentary Social and Community   Development  pledged for full commitment regarding TB care and prevention in the country.
