Community Contribution

Community engagement is a key component in TB case notification. In finding TB cases and improving the wellbeing of TB patients, the program implements various community interventions which are conducted outside the health facilities services, these includes working with community Health Care workers, Ex -TB patients, Traditional healers and ADDOs.Community engagement is a keyis key component in TB case notification. Percent of TB cases notification contributed by Community referrals

Community referrals contribution in TB cases notification has been increasing since 2016 which was 10% to 39% in 2023. The increased support to strengthen community interventions could be the reason to an increased trend of community contribution. Figure 1, below shows the trends of Percent of TB cases notification as a contribution of by Community referrals.

Community referral contribution in TB case notification varies across the regions. Five regions with a high proportion of community contribution are: Mara (66.3%), Ruvuma (66.3%), Tanga (65.3%), Shinyanga (63.9%), and Dodoma (49.8%). Ther are also sixteen regions which surpassed national targets of 30%. The lower performing regions are Iringa (25.4%), Arusha (23.9%), Unguja (16.9%), Ilala II (15.1%), and Pemba (11.9%) as depicted in figure 2.
